Agano yaki ware originates from the Japanese prefecture of Fukuoka. Its origins trace back to the late Sengoku and early Edo period, when the production of Agano yaki was supported by Hosokawa Sansai (daimyo Hosokawa Tadaoki). Agano ware specializes in its variety of enamels used, as well as the natural patterns produced by the glaze melting in the furnace - hardly any decoration is used.
