Collection: Japanese Tea Cups 湯のみ
Japanese tea cups or 湯のみ/yunomi arose with the dawn of Senchado, the Japanese rite of steeped tea, where traditionally smaller cups were used.
First mimicking Chinese models, soon skilled Japanese craftsmen managed to produce high quality porcelain themselves.
With the spread of tea drinking under the masses, other japanese ceramic artists also started to produce yunomi in their specific styles, further widening the scale of varieties and aesthetics available for both casual and ceremonial use.
